the rule was simple: i stay on the sidewalk, you stay on the porch, and we make one good picture.
what happened instead is that people brought out their dogs, their instruments, their newborns, their halloween costumes in april. a family fought a lightsaber duel in the yard for me.
you can see the year in every frame if you know where to look. you can also see people refusing to be miserable about it.
