the impossible tahoe turn & burn

the plan was stupid on paper and got worse in person. leave terlingua after the last shift, drive until the desert quits, play the show, turn the truck around before the tires cool off.

somewhere past van horn the sky went the color of a struck match and i pulled over anyway, because that is the whole job. the camera does not care about your schedule.

made the load-in with forty minutes to spare, smelling like gas station coffee and the inside of a sleeping bag. played anyway. sounded fine. nobody asked.

coming home is always the better half. the road empties out, the light gets long, and you remember why anybody would live this far from a grocery store.
